TPR: Online ESL Mentoring Program: Online ESL Coaching Program

This workshop is going to focus on TPR by using gestures. I will also talk about how to use rhythm and flow in your ESL classroom. Rhythm and flow are important to make sure that your class isn’t flat and boring.

You need to use some form of TPR on every slide. I use both of my hands to blend like CAT. My hands are flat and I bring them together. My left hand is C and my right hand is AT. I join them together. Point to your mouth when you want student to see how to pronounce a word. If you want them to repeat a word cup your hears and point at your mouth. Point and say repeat for the younger students.

Use your fingers for each word of the sentence. This help your students to sound out the word. If you are having trouble with the fifth word, point it out and repeat the word 3 times. I use rhythm for everything when speaking. It makes if fund for the students. After class the parent say my son is singing. That’s why they call me the singing teacher. Use your fingers when pronouncing shorter sentences.

Draw a line. Wave your hand from left to right to show them a line. Circle draw a circle. Repeat each 3 times. You can do this with any shapes. Use facial expressions like I am sad, I act like I’m crying. I pick up alot of these expressions from the students. I use rhythm and flow in all my classes.

I have been teaching ESL for 17 years online and offline. I have taught over 32,500 (25-minute classes) the last 4 years. I hope this helps. Please put and comments in the comment section.
